Bangkok, Thailand — Chulabhorn Royal Academy held a post-launch press conference today following the successful installation of the TIGERS-X experiment aboard the International Space Station last night. With the payload now installed and operational, the research team has officially entered the science operations phase of the mission.
The press conference was held at Meeting Room 3A-301, 3rd Floor, Princess Srisavangavadhana College of Medicine Building, Chulabhorn Royal Academy.
Participants in the press conference included Professor Emeritus Rachata Rachatanavin, M.D., Acting Deputy Secretary-General of Chulabhorn Royal Academy; Professor Ruangphung Sutthent, M.D., Ph.D., Acting Deputy Secretary-General of Chulabhorn Royal Academy; Associate Professor Teerapat Ungtrakul, M.D., Acting Dean of the Princess Srisavangavadhana College of Medicine; and Assistant Professor Wares Chancharoen, Ph.D., faculty member and developer of the TIGERS-X project.
During the briefing, the Chulabhorn Royal Academy team provided an update on the mission’s progress after installation aboard the ISS and highlighted the significance of TIGERS-X as a new step for Thailand’s capability in space-based medical and scientific research. The successful first operation demonstrated that the experiment can be monitored and controlled from the mission control room in Thailand, enabling the research team to command the system, receive data, and proceed toward its planned scientific investigation in microgravity.
The TIGERS-X mission represents an important milestone for Thailand’s growing space research ecosystem, combining medical science, engineering, mission operations, and international collaboration. Following the successful system test, the research team is now preparing to continue the scientific operations phase aboard the International Space Station.
